Baseball Recap: Belleville West Triumphs

After losing to Collinsville the last time they met, Belleville West decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Maroons walked away with a 10-7 win over the Kahoks on Tuesday. The game was the first time the Maroons have beaten the Kahoks on their field since April 7, 2022.

Brayden Skaer looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ethan Hofmeister was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. Casey Fultz was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Belleville West's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 8-5. As for Collinsville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Belleville West will venture away from home to face off against St. Louis University at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Collinsville will be paying especially close attention to the Maroons' contest: after the Maroons faces off against the Junior Bills, they'll take on Collinsville again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
