Baseball Recap: Murphy Comes Up Short

After flying high against Cherokee on Tuesday, Murphy came back down to earth. The Bulldogs came up short against the Rabun Gap-Nacoochee Eagles on Thursday, falling 17-0. The shutout was out of character for the Bulldogs seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

Murphy dropped their record down to 6-11 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Rabun Gap-Nacoochee, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Murphy will take on Cherokee at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Braves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.31 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Rabun Gap-Nacoochee, they will face off against Christ School at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
