Baseball Game Preview: Pueblo West Cyclones vs. Rampart Rams

For the second straight game, Pueblo West will face off against Rampart. The Cyclones will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Pueblo West made easy work of Rampart and carried off an 11-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cyclones.

Blake Mares was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Pueblo West's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Trace Humphrey was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Rampart has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Pueblo West, their win bumped their record up to 10-7.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Pueblo West has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Rampart struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.3 strikeouts.
