Softball Recap: East Union Has No Trouble Against Patterson

East Union barely beat Patterson the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lancers put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 9-2 victory on Tuesday. The Lancers not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 2nd (when they won 29-1).

Mikayla Simpson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Caliyah Lopez was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jacey Jauregui, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.

East Union was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive contests.

East Union's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-12. As for Patterson, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.

East Union will be taking part in a tournament against Cosumnes Oaks at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Patterson, they will be playing at home against Sierra at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers are facing the Timberwolves at the right time seeing as the Timberwolves are stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
