Basketball Game Preview: Lane Tech Champions vs. Padua Franciscan Bruins

The Lane Tech Champions will face off against the Padua Franciscan Bruins at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Lane Tech is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.7 points per game this season.

Last Thursday, Lane Tech lost to Lincoln Park on the road by a 62-46 margin.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Dalton Scantlebury, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. He is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last three games he's played. Zach Mazanowski was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, Lane Tech smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in nine consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Padua Franciscan over Rhodes in every quarter on their way to victory on Wednesday. Padua Franciscan took down Rhodes 64-48. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bruins.

Lane Tech has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for Padua Franciscan, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Lane Tech beat Padua Franciscan 59-52 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Will Lane Tech repeat their success, or does Padua Franciscan have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
