Softball Recap: St. Bonaventure Seraphs vs. Muir Mustangs
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only St. Bonaventure walked away with it. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Muir Mustangs on Saturday. That's two games straight that the Seraphs have won by just one run.
Azaria Aguilar was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
In other pitching news, Jessika Soliz looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 13 consecutive appearances.
Aguilar wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hallie Barlow, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Another was Leea Martinez, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
St. Bonaventure hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive matches.
St. Bonaventure has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-11 record this season. As for Muir, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 16-13.
