Baseball Recap: Northwood Comes Up Short

Northwood had lost 15 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 3-9 to make it 16. They lost 13-3 to the Marion Scarlet Hurricanes. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by exactly ten runs.

As for Marion, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-9-1. That ten run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

For Marion's part, Sean Stuart and Mason Pugh did most of the damage at the plate: Stuart went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Pugh went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Pugh continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brody Whitt, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Coming up, Northwood will be playing at home against Patrick Henry at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Marion, they are taking a road trip to take on Richlands at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
