Volleyball Recap: Halifax County Comes Up Short

Halifax County lost against Mecklenburg County back in October of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Comets fell 3-1 to the Phoenix. While the Comets didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Phoenix 25-16 in the first set.

Halifax County started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 16-25, 28-26, 25-18, 25-20.

Halifax County's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Mecklenburg County, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-6.

Halifax County and Mecklenburg County could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. The Comets (ranked 310th) will meet Tunstall (ranked 98th) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Mecklenburg County will face off against Magna Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (236 vs. 89).
