Football Game Preview: Clear Creek Golddiggers vs. Justice Phoenix

The Clear Creek Golddiggers will venture away from home to challenge the Justice Phoenix at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Clear Creek will come into the game with an undefeated record on the line.

On Friday, Clear Creek took their matchup with ease, bagging a 52-6 win over Lyons. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 46-6.

Clear Creek's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nathan Guerrero, who rushed for 128 yards and one score on only 12 carries, and also picked up 42 receiving yards and one touchdown. Guerrero also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack and making 14 total tackles (3.0 for loss). Skyler Clark also helped with two TDs in total.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Clear Creek was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 327 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Clear Creek's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Jacob Young with two sacks. Another thorn in Lyons' side was Drake Isaacson, who picked up a sack and made ten total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 60-32, which was the final score in Justice's tilt against Front Range Christian on Thursday. The Phoenix have struggled against the Falcons recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Justice's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Clear Creek, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.

Everything came up roses for Clear Creek against Justice in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 65-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golddiggers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
