Baseball Game Preview: Eagle Mustangs vs. Ridgevue Warhawks

The Eagle Mustangs will head out to challenge the Ridgevue Warhawks at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Eagle is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

Eagle is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Rocky Mountain, who was ranked 15th at the time (Eagle was ranked fifth). The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Grizzlies on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Easton Gothberg was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Nate Johansen also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Ridgevue came out on top against Kuna on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run sixth inning. The Warhawks blew past the Kavemen 15-7.

The team relied heavily on Preston Wade, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one triple. Zach Forster was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Ridgevue was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .447. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Eagle's win bumped their record up to 15-5. As for Ridgevue, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.

Eagle was able to grind out a solid win over Ridgevue in their previous meeting back in March of 2025, winning 5-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
