Basketball Game Preview: Sands Mustangs vs. Iraan Braves

The Sands Mustangs will challenge the Iraan Braves at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Iraan took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Sands, who comes in off a win.

Sands is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by Wilson to the tune of 75-38 on Friday. Given Sands' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 648th, while Wilson is ranked 1590th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Iraan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 55-45 to Grape Creek.

Sands pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.2 points per game. As for Iraan, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Everything came up roses for Sands against Iraan when the teams last played back in November of 2020, as the team secured a 60-17 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sands since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
