Basketball Recap: Churchville-Chili Comes Up Short

Churchville-Chili came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 55-31 to the Canandaigua Academy Braves. While losing is never fun, the Saints can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 399th, while the Braves are ranked 107th).

When it comes to explaining why Churchville-Chili lost, don't look at Erin Marone. Despite the final result, she posted 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mercy Payne, who earned seven points.

Churchville-Chili has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Canandaigua Academy, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.

Churchville-Chili wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 48-47 loss against Brockport on the 11th. As for Canandaigua Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-28 victory against Spencerport on the 11th.
