Basketball Recap: Mount Airy Takes a Loss

Mount Airy suffered their closest defeat since January 31, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of the Elkin Buckin' Elks by a score of 58-55. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Granite Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 60-46 back in December of 2024.

Mount Airy's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Elkin, the win got them back to even at 7-7.

When Mount Airy and Elkin next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Mount Airy will try to stop Alleghany's five-game winning streak when the meet at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Mount Airy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.4 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Elkin will square off against South Stokes and their six-game winning streak at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
