Football Recap: Burkburnett Comes Up Short

Burkburnett extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 0-6. They lost 34-14 to the Graham Steers. The Bulldogs lost against the Steers in their previous head to head back in October of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 77-0 score last time.

Although Burkburnett took the loss, they still got scores from Griffen Johnston and George Moseley.

As for Graham, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2. The final result isn't all that surprising considering their considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 239th, while Burkburnett is ranked 759th).

Jace Gill had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 300 yards and two TDs while picking up 12.0 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 81 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries. Those 300 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Brodie Martin was Gill's top target, picking up 103 receiving yards and one score.

Coming up, Burkburnett will face off against Eagle Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant wideouts against one another: Johnston and TERRY STARKS. As for Graham, they will welcome Bridgeport at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Steers will be up against the Bulls' rather soft defense (which has allowed 35 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
