Basketball Recap: Sawyer Morgan Key Part of Team Effort in Huskies Win

There's no place like home for Highland, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 55-40 victory over the Bennett Tigers on Saturday. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Tigers are ranked 101st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Highland got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sawyer Morgan out in front who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds. Morgan has become a key player for Highland: the team is 13-1 when he posts at least ten boards, but 2-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Rowdy Watson, who went 6-for-10 to rack up 17 points.

Highland was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bennett only four assists.

Bennett lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Owen Stiers, who posted 13 points. Austin Stiers was another key player, putting up 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Highland's victory bumped their record up to 15-4. As for Bennett, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-4.

Highland didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 68-54 win against Brush on the 18th. As for Bennett, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 48-46 defeat against Fort Lupton on the 18th.
