Baseball Game Preview: Bonita Bearcats vs. Temecula Valley Golden Bears

The Bonita Bearcats will take on the Temecula Valley Golden Bears in a tournament on Saturday. Bonita's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Temecula Valley's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Bonita's tournament run continued when they took on Santiago on Friday. The Bearcats came out on top against the Sharks by a score of 3-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

Ryder Gibson looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

At the plate, Josh Angely was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. He also put up two RBI, which were his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Temecula Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Paloma Valley. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Golden Bears have suffered since April 18, 2024.

Andrew Russo made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Bonita's victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Temecula Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
