Baseball Recap: Dunnellon Gets the Win

Dunnellon never got on the board in their matchup last Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Lake Weir on Friday. They put the hurt on the Lake Weir Hurricanes with a sharp 19-2 win. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Tigers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Dylan Donahoe was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Michael Payne, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Dunnellon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Weir only posted an OBP of .368.

Dunnellon's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Lake Weir, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dunnellon will take on Vanguard at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Lake Weir, they will face off against Leesburg at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
