Basketball Recap: Gooding Comes Up Short

Gooding was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were beaten by the Oakley Hornets 61-34. If the Senators were looking for revenge after losing 52-43 to the Hornets when the teams met back in January of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the defeat, Gooding saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Camryn Rycraft shot 60% from the field en route to 17 points and three steals. Rycraft also set a new season-high mark in three-point shooting accuracy with 75%. Scottie Martin was another key player, putting up eight points and five boards.

Gooding's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Oakley, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gooding will welcome Buhl at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Senators will be up against the Indians' rather soft defense (which has allowed 50.56 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Oakley, they will be playing at home against Murtaugh at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
