Preview: Old Town Coyotes vs. Foxcroft Academy Ponies
Old Town is 8-2 against Foxcroft Academy since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Old Town Coyotes will play host again and welcome the Foxcroft Academy Ponies, where tip off is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, Old Town strolled past Houlton with points to spare, taking the game 51-34. Given Old Town's advantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while Houlton is ranked 72nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Foxcroft Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Hermon on Thursday, but they still walked away with a 57-52 victory. 57 seems to be a good number for Foxcroft Academy as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Jadon Richard continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 25 points along with four steals. Those 25 points set a new season-high mark for him. Silas Topolski was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Old Town's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.8 points per game. As for Foxcroft Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
Old Town was able to grind out a solid victory over Foxcroft Academy in their previous matchup back in February, winning 52-43. Will Old Town repeat their success, or does Foxcroft Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
