Volleyball Game Preview: Jeffersonville Red Devils vs. Madison Cubs

The Jeffersonville Red Devils will challenge the Madison Cubs at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Jeffersonville comes in on 13 and Madison on four.

Jeffersonville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They blew past Southwestern 3-0.

James Medina had an outrageously good game as he had 12 aces and one assist. Those 12 aces gave him a new career-high. Malachi Crowder was another key player, getting seven digs and three aces.

They weren't the only good server: Jeffersonville was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 27 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in ten consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Madison hadn't done well against Floyd Central recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Cubs skirted past the Highlanders 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cubs have posted since April 1st.

Madison's victory bumped their record up to 16-11. As for Jeffersonville, their win bumped their record up to 27-5.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's match: Jeffersonville has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 9.1 aces per game. However, it's not like Madison struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Jeffersonville was able to grind out a solid victory over Madison in their previous meeting back in April, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Devils since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
