Baseball Recap: Westover Comes Up Short

Westover was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Dougherty Trojans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-10 last Tuesday.

Westover saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Thomas, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Jordyn Shorter also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Westover's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Dougherty, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-3.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Westover will challenge rival Bainbridge at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Dougherty is set to square off against their familiar foe Monroe at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
