Baseball Recap: East Longmeadow Takes a Loss

If East Longmeadow was feeling good fresh off their 21-1 takedown of Chicopee last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Spartans took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Westfield Bombers on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Spartans in their meetings with the Bombers: they've now lost five in a row.

East Longmeadow saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derek Helberg, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

East Longmeadow's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Westfield, the win keeps they at an undefeated 6-0.

Coming up, East Longmeadow will challenge Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Westfield, they will square off against Pope Francis Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
