Preview: Bellevue Wolverines vs. Mountlake Terrace Hawks
The Bellevue Wolverines will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Mountlake Terrace Hawks at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Bellevue's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last seven contests.
Bellevue put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 49-0 victory over Hazen on the road. Given Bellevue's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington football rankings (they are ranked 17th, while Hazen is ranked 125th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Mountlake Terrace won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Stanwood 7-6.
Zaveon Jones got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 139 yards and a touchdown. Jones hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for nine straight games.
Bellevue's victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-2. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 35 points. As for Mountlake Terrace, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Bellevue has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 282.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Mountlake Terrace struggles in that department as they've been averaging 222 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
