Baseball Recap: Oxford Comes Up Short

Oxford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Wolcott Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wolverines of the 5-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Jackson Geisweit made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Blake Huston, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Oxford's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Wolcott, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Oxford is set to square off against their familiar foe Woodland Regional at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Wolcott will take on rival Holy Cross at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
