Baseball Recap: Conestoga Valley's Run of Six Straight Wins Now Over

Conestoga Valley dropped their record down to 13-9-1 on Friday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They lost 10-3 to the Palmyra Cougars. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Buckskins have suffered since April 24, 2024.

Thomas Livingston made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Garrett Daniels, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.

As for Palmyra, the win keeps they at an undefeated 22-0. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average this season.

On Palmyra's side, Aiden Willard was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Willard has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other pitching news, Palmyra got a great performance from Brayden Bown as he struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Bown has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Palmyra let Nate Osteen and Jack Hathaway run wild. Osteen went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Hathaway went 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Hathaway a new career-high. Julian Meley was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Conestoga Valley wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 1-0 loss against Elizabethtown on the 27th. As for Palmyra, they have also already played their next game, an 8-2 defeat against Lampeter-Strasburg on the 26th.
