Basketball Recap: Amir Morton's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North over Largo

Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North suffered their biggest loss since February 1, 2024 on Thursday. They lost 90-67 to the Largo Lions. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Lions are ranked 24th).

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Amir Morton, who went 8 of 15 to rack up 19 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Devin Thomas, who posted 15 points in addition to six boards and five assists.

This is the second loss in a row for Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North and nudges their season record down to 9-6. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.5 points over those games. As for Largo, they pushed their record up to 16-2 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North will welcome Friendly at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Largo, they will be playing at home against Oxon Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Largo knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 matches -- so hopefully Oxon Hill likes a good challenge.
