            Basketball Recap: Gahr Gladiators vs. Marquez Gladiators        
        
		
        
        
            After having lost a blowout in their  previous game against La Mirada, Gahr was happy to have turned things around  on Saturday. They claimed a resounding  62-35 win over the Marquez Gladiators. Gahr pushed the score to  45-25 by the end of the third, a deficit Marquez had  little chance of recovering from.
 Despite the  defeat, Marquez saw an underclassman step up: sophomore  Elyjah Staples  dropped  a double-double on 13  points and ten  rebounds. Staples has been hot recently, having  posted ten or more  boards the last three times he's  played. The team also got some help courtesy of  Cravon Charles, who  posted eight points and six  rebounds.
Gahr's victory bumped their record up to 11-12. As for Marquez, their loss  ended  a  six-game streak of wins at home  and  dropped them to 10-10.
 Gahr will challenge Mayfair at 7:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. One thing working in Mayfair's favor is that they have posted at least 55  points  in their last seven matches. As for Marquez, they will look to defend their home court  on Monday against Sotomayor  at 5:30  p.m. Marquez is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.8  points per game  this season.
