Softball Game Preview: Heritage Christian Eagles vs. Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles

Heritage Christian hasn't had much luck against Guerin Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Golden Eagles at 5:30 p.m. Heritage Christian has given up an average of 12.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Heritage Christian is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Monday. They fell 11-6 to Bethesda Christian.

Anna Hilbrich was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Harper Drook, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Guerin Catholic got themselves on the board against Lawrence Central on Wednesday, but Lawrence Central never followed suit. They had just enough and edged out the Bears 1-0.

Not much got past Ava Augustinovicz, who gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Lawrence Central off the board. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Augustinovicz.

On the hitting side, Guerin Catholic's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kate Brady, who went 1-for-4 with one double. That double marked the first that Brady has hit this season.

Guerin Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lawrence Central struck out eight times.

Guerin Catholic's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-3. As for Heritage Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Everything went Heritage Christian's way against Guerin Catholic in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Heritage Christian made off with a 15-6 victory.
