Volleyball Game Preview: Monarch Knights vs. Western Wildcats

The Monarch Knights will venture away from home to face off against the Western Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Monarch took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. Everything went their way against Miramar as they made off with a 3-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, Western had already won four in a row and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 3-0 win.

One reason for the win was Western's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-19, 25-17.

Western found their leader in freshman Jayson Ruiz, who had 20 digs. Those 20 digs set a new season-high mark for Ruiz.

Monarch's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4. As for Western, their win bumped their record up to 16-3.
