Recap: Fayetteville Academy Eagles vs. Rocky Mount Academy Eagles
The Fayetteville Academy Eagles suffered their biggest defeat since November 14, 2023 on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 56-20 loss at the hands of Rocky Mount Academy. Fayetteville Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-5.
Riley Duchon and Polly Miller certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Duchon scored 12 points, while Miller scored eight points. That was a full 60% of Fayetteville Academy's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Rocky Mount Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Taylor Carmichael led the charge by scoring 18 points. Carmichael hasn't dropped below 15 points for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Daza, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds and seven assists.
Fayetteville Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Rocky Mount Academy, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fayetteville Academy will take on Faith Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Faith Christian is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. As for Rocky Mount Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Wilson Christian Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Monday.
