Softball Game Preview: Enterprise Hornets vs. Red Bluff Spartans

Enterprise hasn't had much luck against Red Bluff recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Hornets will venture away from home to face off against the Spartans at 5:00 p.m. Enterprise has given up an average of 12.9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Enterprise lost 14-2 to Pleasant Valley on Monday. That's two games in a row now that the Hornets have lost by exactly 12 runs.

Meanwhile, Red Bluff was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 7-3 to Chico.

Mattison Kwarta was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up seven earned runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Red Bluff's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Enterprise, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.

Enterprise suffered a grim 11-2 defeat to Red Bluff in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
