Portage Central and Portage Northern are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2018, but likely not for long. The Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Huskies at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Portage Central is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Things were looking good for Portage Central after they put the first run on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of St. Joseph by a score of 4-3.

Cam Schultz made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Portage Northern got themselves on the board against Gull Lake on Thursday, but Gull Lake never followed suit. They had just enough and edged out the Blue Devils 2-0.

The team relied heavily on Evan McIntyre, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

Portage Central's defeat dropped their record down to 6-18. As for Portage Northern, their victory bumped their record up to 10-17-1.

Portage Central was able to grind out a solid win over Portage Northern in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 6-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
