Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is West Nassau's Seventh in Last Nine Outings

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only West Nassau walked away with it. They won by a run and slipped past the Fernandina Beach Pirates 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Warriors have posted since March 27th.

David Treadwell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, West Nassau saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colin Marchant, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave Marchant a new career-high. Braden Goff also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

West Nassau has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for Fernandina Beach, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 19-7 record.

West Nassau will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Pirates: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
