Recap: Mission Viejo Diablos vs. Aliso Niguel Wolverines

The Mission Viejo Diablos's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their sixth straight loss. They fell 49-42 to Aliso Niguel. While losing is never fun, Mission Viejo can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 543rd, while Aliso Niguel is ranked 199th).

Several Diablos players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Austin Whitehead, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Hudson Dunlap, who scored nine points.

Mission Viejo has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-17 record this season. As for Aliso Niguel, their victory bumped their record up to 18-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mission Viejo will take on El Toro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in El Toro's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games. As for Aliso Niguel, they will head out on the road to face off against Dana Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dana Hills will be looking to extend their current 13-game winning streak.
