Baseball Recap: Albemarle Bulldogs vs. Gray Stone Day Knights

Albemarle extended their losing streak to ten on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 1-14 in the process. They came up short against the Gray Stone Day Knights, falling 11-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-4 on Tuesday.

Kendon Phillips was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

As for Gray Stone Day, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-11. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games.

On Gray Stone Day's side, Zach Misenheimer and Cliffton Hatley made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Misenheimer didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Hatley tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Misenheimer went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI, while Hatley got on base in three of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. Gray Stone Day is undefeated when Hatley posts two or more runs, but 2-11 otherwise.

In other batting news, Anthony Decuir was excellent, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Anderson Shue, who earned one run and two stolen bases.

Albemarle will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on South Stanly at 4:00 p.m. on the 28th. Gray Stone Day does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
