League recap: Park Rapids' Odland delivers best pitching performance from past week

Mid-State league recap: 5/14/12

Cory Odland was the best pitcher in Mid-State this week. He accumulated one win and 16 strikeouts.

The league's longest active winning streak belongs to Perham (11-3, 9-1), undefeated over its last nine games. The streak was extended by another four games over the past week, including a 10-8 victory over Park Rapids and a 14-4 win over Park Rapids.

Perham boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks. The Yellowjackets have given up a mere 93 hits on the year in addition to compiling 88 strikeouts. Jesse Hein is the leader in that category with 34 Ks on the season.

Park Rapids sprayed a league-best 67 hits this week, but still trails Perham, which holds the season lead in base knocks with 127. Sam Coborn has a team-high 17 hits on the season for first-place the Panthers, which went 1-3 this week.

Park Rapids' Coborn led the league with 15 hits this week. On the season, he's hitting .378 and ranks third in the league with 17 hits.
