            Softball Recap: Everett Alvarez Eagles vs. San Mateo Bearcats        
        
		
        
        
            It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Everett Alvarez can now relate to. They fell just short of the San Mateo Bearcats by a score of  2-1 on Wednesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bearcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  6-5  back in March.
 Dani Amendola was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She  struck out ten batters over  seven innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   six  hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in 25 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box,  going 1-for-2 with one  triple.
 Amendola wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Michelle Wallace, who  went 1-for-3 with one  stolen base and one  RBI.
Everett Alvarez's defeat dropped their record down to 16-12. As for San Mateo,  the  win made it two in a row for them and  bumps their season record up to 16-9.
 Everett Alvarez does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for San Mateo, they will face off against Hillsdale at 10:00  a.m.  on Saturday. The Fighting Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 2.3  runs per game  this season, so the Bearcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
