Basketball Recap: Somerset College Prep Academy Comes Up Short

If Somerset College Prep Academy was feeling good fresh off their 54-34 takedown of Master's Academy back in December of 2024, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Somerset College Prep Academy Spartans lost 66-46 to the Inlet Grove Hurricanes on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 635th, while the Hurricanes are ranked 263rd).

Despite the loss, Somerset College Prep Academy still got an impressive performance from William Tracey, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Clyde Phileus, who posted six points.

Inlet Grove was led to victory by Robert Brown and Ja?Marcus Johnson. Brown went 8 of 17 on his way to 21 points and four steals, while Johnson went 7 of 11 on his way to 17 points and three steals. Brown has been hot recently, having posted 19 or more points the last four times he's played. Ty?Rique Alty was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Somerset College Prep Academy dropped their record down to 3-9 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Inlet Grove, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-3.

Somerset College Prep Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 75-46 defeat against Somerset Academy - Canyons on the 13th. As for Inlet Grove, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-49 victory against Tradition Prep on the 13th.
