Basketball Recap: Dunnellon Comes Up Short

Dunnellon entered their game against Trinity Catholic on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Dunnellon Tigers lost 68-48 to the Trinity Catholic Celtics. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 59-21 on January 7th.

Trinity Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alessa Washington led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 19 points and nine boards. That's the most points Washington has posted since back in January of 2024. Ja'Niya Corbin was another key player, going 9 for 21 on her way to 24 points and three steals.

Dunnellon now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Trinity Catholic, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dunnellon has already played their next matchup (against Fort White), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Trinity Catholic has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Saint Francis Catholic.
