Football Recap: Elijah Eche's Menacing Defense Leads Westbury over Sterling

Westbury lost to Sterling back in September of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Huskies came out on top in a nail-biter against the Raiders, sneaking past 17-14.

It was another big night for Jefferson Rivas Hernandez, who picked up 47 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 45 yards.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Westbury's defense and their three sacks. Elijah Eche was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last nine games he's played dating back to last season.

Westbury's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Sterling, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-3.

Coming up, Westbury will take on Milby at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Huskies will be up against the Buffs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 49 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Sterling, they are taking a road trip to face off against Austin at 7:00 p.m. on October 4. The Raiders will be up against the Mustangs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 39 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
