Basketball Recap: Pusch Ridge Christian Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Nicole Njoroge and Hannah Johnson

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Pusch Ridge Christian Academy can now relate to. They took a 58-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the San Carlos Braves. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Braves apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2015.

Despite the defeat, Pusch Ridge Christian Academy had strong showings from Hannah Johnson, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds, and Nicole NJoroge, who posted 12 points in addition to seven boards and five steals. What's more, NJoroge also posted three assists, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brooke Sanburn, who earned seven points and seven boards.

Even though they lost, Pusch Ridge Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.

ELLYSIA CUTTER was her usual excellent self, going 7-for-12 to rack up 20 points and seven rebounds for San Carlos. CUTTER is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 40% in the last three games she's played. ANAYA JUAN was another key player, putting up ten points.

Pusch Ridge Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 19-6. As for San Carlos, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 19 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 25-5 record this season.

Pusch Ridge Christian Academy has already played their next game, a 49-44 defeat against Sabino on the 17th. As for San Carlos, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 55-34 loss against Phoenix Country Day on the 13th.
