Softball Recap: McCutcheon Comes Up Short

McCutcheon and Western squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but McCutcheon had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 3-1. That's two games in a row now that the Mavericks have lost by exactly two runs.

McCutcheon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mady Jones, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

McCutcheon has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season. As for Western, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-8.

McCutcheon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Western, they will face off against Lafayette Jefferson at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bronchos have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
