Basketball Recap: Decatur Piles Up the Points Against Crisfield

Decatur had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 46-point drubbing they dealt Crisfield on Monday. The Decatur Seahawks breezed past the Crisfield Crabbers to the tune of 70-24. The Seahawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Decatur was led to victory by Paityn Tyre and Maleah Blake. Tyre dropped a double-double with 22 points and ten rebounds, while Blake almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine steals. Those 22 points gave Tyre a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lila Gunther, who on her way to 12 points.

Decatur smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Decatur is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. Crisfield dropped their record down to 2-19 with the defeat, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Decatur will square off against Bennett at 5:30 p.m. on March 3rd. Crisfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
