Softball Preview: Marshall Tigers vs. Waseca Bluejays        
        
		
            
 The Marshall Tigers will head out on the road to  face off against  the Waseca Bluejays at 11:00  a.m.  on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
 Marshall will head into Thursday's  game out to bounce back: they came back down to earth  on Thursday after soaring to a six-run match in their last game. They fell just short of Fairmont by a score of  7-5. The  defeat   continues a  trend for Marshall in their matchups with Fairmont: they've now lost four in a row.
  Morgan Bjella was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she  struck out seven batters over  three innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   five  hits (and not a single walk). Bjella has been consistent recently: she hasn't  tossed less than seven  strikeouts in three consecutive pitching appearances. Bjella was also solid in the batter's box,  going 2-for-3 with a  double.
 Bjella wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Harley Beek, who  scored a  run while going 2-for-3.
 Even though they lost, Marshall  didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and  finished the game with 12  strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fairmont only tossed six.
 Meanwhile, Waseca is still looking for their season's first win. They lost  9-1 to Fairmont last Thursday.
 Marshall's record is now 4-4. As for Waseca, their record now sits at 0-8.
 Everything went Marshall's way against Waseca in their previous meeting  back in May of 2023 as Marshall made off with  a  13-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Marshall since the  team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
