Softball Recap: San Rafael Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact San Rafael can now relate to. They fell just short of the Salesian College Preparatory Pride by a score of 2-1 on Friday. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Thomara Drummer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up 18 Ks. Those 18 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, San Rafael saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cherise Castagne, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

San Rafael's loss dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Salesian College Preparatory, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

San Rafael does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Salesian College Preparatory, they will face off against Berean Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Pride surely won't give up without a fight.
