Softball Recap: Roosevelt Takes a Loss

Roosevelt extended their losing streak to six on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 3-9 in the process. They came up short against the Harrisburg Tigers, falling 16-6. The game snapped a strange streak: the last three times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Rylinne Devries made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That RBI was her first of the season. Raelyn Sieler was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

As for Harrisburg, the win (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 14-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.

On Harrisburg's side, they got a great performance from Kylie Visker as she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits.

At the plate, Ava Gross was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Simunek, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.

Looking ahead, Roosevelt will take on Tea at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Harrisburg, they will square off against Washington at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
