Softball Game Preview: Chester Cyclones vs. Fort Mill Yellow Jackets

The Chester Cyclones will head out to square off against the Fort Mill Yellow Jackets at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Chester will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Chester barely beat Rock Hill the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cyclones put the hurt on the Bearcats with a sharp 17-2 win on Monday. Considering the Cyclones have won six games by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Fort Mill had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over Northwestern on Tuesday.

Haley Rogers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on ten hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brooke Rosario, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Verastegui, who scored three runs while going 4-for-4.

Chester's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Fort Mill, their record now sits at 4-9.

Chester couldn't quite finish off Fort Mill in their previous meeting back in March and fell 7-5. Can the Cyclones avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
