Basketball Game Preview: Malden Green Wave vs. East Prairie Eagles

The Malden Green Wave will challenge the East Prairie Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 85-42, which was the final score in Malden's tilt against Bernie on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Green Wave can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 503rd, while the Mules are ranked 133rd).

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when East Prairie duked it out with Kelly on Friday. Everything went East Prairie's way against Kelly as East Prairie made off with an 86-60 victory. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 25 points or more this season.

East Prairie has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.2 points over those games. As for Malden, they dropped their record down to 1-18 with the loss, which was their tenth straight on the road.

Malden was able to grind out a solid win over East Prairie in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 60-49. Will Malden repeat their success, or does East Prairie have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
