Basketball Game Preview: Hoquiam Grizzlies vs. Elma Eagles

The Hoquiam Grizzlies are taking a road trip to challenge the Elma Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Hoquiam turned things around against Tenino on Tuesday. They snuck past the Beavers with a 62-57 victory.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Elma, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They strolled past Rainier with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 48-33.

Hoquiam better focus on containing Isaac McGaffey and Traden Carter as the pair were huge in Elma's win. McGaffey almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds, while Carter went 6 for 10 on his way to 18 points and seven boards. The contest was McGaffey's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Theo Flores also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Elma's win bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Hoquiam, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-12.

Hoquiam came up short against Elma when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 56-46. Can Hoquiam avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
