Basketball Recap: Corner Canyon Falls Short Against Ranked Bingham

On Tuesday, Corner Canyon faced Bingham in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Corner Canyon Chargers came up short against the Bingham Miners, falling 61-41. The Chargers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Corner Canyon still got an impressive performance from Aubrey Mulitalo, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sorrelle Nielsen, who went 5 for 9 on her way to 12 points.

Bingham's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Evalyn Roberts, who went 5 of 8 en route to 15 points and four steals. Those four steals gave Roberts a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lena Casperson, who went 8 for 11 on her way to 16 points along with eight boards and three steals.

Corner Canyon's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Bingham, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Corner Canyon will challenge Copper Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Corner Canyon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.5 points per game this season. As for Bingham, they will face off against Riverton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Riverton also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 50.7 points per game.
